Advene is a Dubai-based accessories brand with a new vision for responsible luxury. Our name comes from advenience — a term coined by philosopher Roland Barthes for art that stirs something inside you.
Traceable to the source
We source 100% traceable raw materials. Our full-grain leather comes from Gold-Rated Leather Working Group tanneries in Tuscany, vegetable-tanned with tree bark rather than chrome, and bought as a by-product of the food industry rather than for its own sake.
Our canvas is heavyweight organic cotton, finished with a plant-based water repellent instead of the fluorochemicals the industry still leans on. Hardware is solid brass, left untreated so it patinas rather than flakes.
Where a material cannot be traced, we do not use it. That single rule has killed more prototypes than any design decision we have ever made.
One style at a time
Each handbag is the result of months of research and dozens of prototypes. We release just one style at a time, which means we can spend a year on a closure rather than a fortnight on a season.
The Age folds from a single panel of leather. There is no lining, no cardboard stiffener, no glue-and-hope — the structure is the material, so there is almost nothing left on the cutting table and nothing hidden inside that can fail.
Everything is cut and hand-assembled in a carbon-neutral facility in Italy by a family workshop we have worked with since our first sample. We repair any Advene bag, for life.
Progress is our promise
We are not a sustainable company. No company that makes things is. What we are is measurably better every year, and honest about the gap between where we are and where we intend to be.
Our aim to eliminate waste drives every design decision: little to no plastic, minimal packaging as the default rather than the upsell, and a repair service that exists so that the most responsible bag we make is the one you already own.

Advene was founded in Dubai in 2019 by a small team of designers and supply-chain obsessives, and it is still small on purpose.
